How can I Control the Pain?
During and after wisdom tooth extraction, one major concern for many patients is controlling their pain. You can most likely expect some level of discomfort as you can with any oral surgery. However, do not let the fear of pain keep you from getting necessary procedures. Impacted wisdom teeth can cause a number of painful problems down the line. So if the dentist recommends wisdom teeth extraction, just know there are a number of methods the dentist and you can use to control pain both during and after the procedure. Wisdom Tooth Extraction Procedure
The amount of discomfort you feel will have a lot to do with what kind of procedure the dentist performs to remove your wisdom teeth. Uncomplicated extractions often make for less postoperative pain and a quicker recovery. More complex surgical extractions where the tooth must be cut down before removal, are usually more painful both during treatment and recovery. However, this is not always the case. Recovery and pain can last for a couple of days or a couple of weeks depending on your age and lifestyle routines. Aftercare
You will receive a set of post-op instructions from your surgery manager prior to the day of surgery which they will review with you. They will also review the instructions again when you check in for your surgery. Be sure to follow the instructions closely for the best outcome and quickest recovery.
